Lady Eagles Fall at Limestone Tournament

GAFFNEY, S.C. - During day two of the Limestone Southeast Crossover Tournament, the Carson-Newman volleyball team dropped two games today. The losses dropped the Lady Eagles to 5-3 on the season.
In the first match of the day, the Lady Eagles were edged by Lander University 3-2. Carson-Newman traded off set wins with Lander winning the first and third matches 25-12 and 25-22 respectively. The Lady Eagles fought back and claimed wins in the second and fourth matches 25-19 and 25-23, before ultimately falling to Lander in the fifth set 15-13.
In their second match of the day, Mount Olive defeated Carson-Newman 3-1 in four sets. Mount Olive picked up the first two sets 25-21 and 25-22. The Lady Eagles picked up the third set 25-14, but Mount Olive would fight off Carson-Newman in the fourth set to win the match 25-17.
The Lady Eagles wound up finishing the two-day tournament 2-2, with junior Stephanie Cutter and sophomore Carly Mozgai being named to the All-Tournament team.
The Carson-Newman volleyball team will be back in action Wednesday, September 10, against King College. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. in Bristol.
