Final Stats for Carson-Newman vs. Wingate
JEFFERSON CITY, TENN- Carson-Newman's volleyball team fell to Wingate in a South Atlantic Conference match-up Friday night at Holt Fieldhouse 3-0 (30-28, 25-20, 25-22).
The Lady Eagles fall to 22-13 overall and 10-5 in the SAC. The Bulldogs improve to 26-1, 15-0 in conference play.
The first set was a battle between the two teams, tying up the game several times before the Bulldogs scored two consecutive points to defeat the Lady Eagles 30-28. The Bulldogs were led by Stormi Gale with 13 kills, one solo block and three block assists. Wingate was set up by Liz Willis who put up 27 assists on the night.
Both teams kept up the intensity in the second match, the Bulldogs pulled away in the end and won the second set 25-20.
Carson-Newman was led by Kelsey Fleck (Celina, Ohio) who tallied ten kills on the night. Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) added 22 assists to the effort.
Carson-Newman battled back in the third set as the Bulldogs had an early lead but were not able to clinch the win. Wingate defeated the Lady Eagles 25-22 in the final set.
The Lady Eagles will be back in actions Saturday, November 8 when they face conference rival Newberry College at 4 p.m. in Holt Fieldhouse.
