Carson-Newman Falls in Second Day of Swamp Fox Invitational

FLORENCE, S.C. - In day two of the Swamp Fox Invitational, the Carson-Newman volleyball team dropped two matches to finish 2-2 in the Francis Marion tournament. The losses dropped the Lady Eagles to 10-8, 1-0 (SAC) on the season.
In the first match of the day, Franklin Pierce swept Carson-Newman in three sets 25-21, 25-22, 25-15. In their second match, host Francis Marion edged out Carson-Newman in five sets 22-25,21-25,25-21,27-25,15-5. Sophomore Carly Mozgai led the Lady Eagles in the five-set battle with 20 kills, while Jessica Schachleiter added 13 kills and 12 digs. Setters Allyson Corhn and Stephanie Cutter handed out 27 and 25 assists respectively, while libero Haley Bush had a team-high 18 digs.
The Lady Eagles will be back on the home court this Tuesday, September 23, in a match-up against conference rival Tusculum. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
