Lady Eagle Volleyball Signs Two

Jefferson City, Tenn. - Carson-Newman head volleyball coach Shannon Mincey announced today that Jessica Schachleiter and Mary Kate Work have signed National Letters of Intent to attend school and play volleyball at Carson-Newman next season.
Schachleiter, a 5'11 outside hitter, is a transfer from Pasco-Hernando Community College where she received a number of honors during her two seasons of action, including earning 2007 Suncoast Conference Player of the Year honors. She was also named Player of the Week during her sophomore season.
The Cincinnati native led her team to a 26-11 record this past season, collecting the Suncoast Conference title and a third place finish in the state tournament. She received All-Region and All-State honors for the 2007 season, after being named second team All-Conference in 2006. In high school, she was a four-year letter winner for Mother of Mercy High School.
Work, a 5'11 left-handed hitter, guided her Walker Valley High School team to a 28-16 record and fourth place regional finish.
The Cleveland native was a member of the District All-Tournament team in 2007, and has been a National Honor Society member and an honor roll student for the past 5 years. She is also a four-year member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and plans to major in Early Childhood Education at Carson-Newman. Work currently plays for the Choo Choo City Volleyball Club.
The Lady Eagles were 23-11 in 2007, and finished second in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
