Tusculum Rallies for 3-2 Win Over Lady Eagles

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Four Tusculum players reached double-figures in kills as the Pioneers rallied for a 3-2 (18-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 15-9) win over Carson-Newman in Holt Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
The Lady Eagles fall to 10-9 overall, 1-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. Tusculum improve to 11-4 over and 2-1 in SAC play.
C-N jumped out fast winning the first two sets behind sophomore Carly Mozgai's (Greensboro, N.C.) hot hitting. She finished the match with 14 kills.
TC would even the match with wins in Sets 3 and 4, both coming by a final tally of 25-23. All three of the middle sets were decided by two points.
Sophomore outside hitter Katie Lubke (Bellefontaine, Ohio) led the Pioneers with 15 kills, while freshman Carly Swisher (Fort Collins, Colo.) added 13. Freshman Peyton Colclough (Manassas, Va.) had 44 assists on the night and four service aces.
Junior Jessica Schachleiter (Cincinnati, Ohio) had nine kills for the Lady Eagles and three aces.
Carson-Newman returns to action this weekend with a pair of home conference matches. The Lady Eagles will host Lenoir-Rhyne Friday night at 7 p.m. and Catawba on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both matches are in Holt Fieldhouse. Tusculum will travel to Mars Hill on Friday for a South Atlantic Conference match.
