Carson-Newman Athletics Marketing Intern 

Internship opportunities are currently available with the Carson-Newman University Athletics Department.  If your goal is a career in intercollegiate athletics or sport marketing, our internship program is an excellent choice to gain experience and broaden your career path options. We offer opportunities within several units of the department and most positions will work across various areas of focus as needed.

Those selected as C-N Athletics Interns will acquire practical knowledge through hands-on experience and gain invaluable skills necessary to compete for jobs in the athletics and sport industries when their program is completed.

C-N Athletics will consider high school, college undergraduate and college graduate students for a number of internship positions.  Currently, we offer Internship opportunities in the areas of:

  • Advertising/Print Marketing
  • Social Media
  • Ticket Sales/Promotions & Sponsorships
  • Mossy Creek Maniacs
  • Game Operations
  • Special Event Planning & Membership Drives/ Eagle Club Programs

All C-N Athletics internships are non-paid positions. Relocation and housing expenses are the responsibility of the intern.  Please note: Any candidate selected as a finalist may be asked to interview in Jefferson City, TN at his or her own expense.

Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant 

Carson-Newman University, an NCAA Division II institution located in Jefferson City, Tenn., invites applications for the position of Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant. The graduate assistant is a full time position who will work in conjunction with Carson-Newman’s athletic department, and will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with publicity efforts for the University’s 19 sponsored athletic programs, as well as Carson-Newman's Director of External Operations with marketing. The graduate assistant in athletic communications will maintain compliance of Carson-Newman University, South Atlantic Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. 

Bachelor’s degree required; Admission into Carson-Newman University graduate program required; knowledge or willingness to learn State Crew, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop; ability to work nights, weekends and holidays; strong oral and written communication and organizational skills; valid driver’s license required.  Play-by-play experience; video or audio editing experience a plus.  Must have willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of the University.

This position is largely defined by the candidate.  For someone interested in play-by-play and sports broadcasting, the position will include approximately 60 total on air reps: (30 basesball, 10 softball, 5 basketball, 5-10 soccer and 5-10 volleyball depending on the schedule)

Compensation includes competitive stipend, full graduate tuition waiver and housing.   Start date, early August. Position finishes in July 2020
