Lady Eagles Fall, 3-2

JEFFERSON CITY, TN-- Carson-Newman took an early 2-0 lead, but Wingate rallied to defeat the Lady Eagles, 3-2 (30-18, 30-24, 24-30, 28-30, 11-15) in South Atlantic Conference action Friday night.
Carson-Newman (16-13, 5-8 SAC) dominated the early games, hitting .464 and .357 in games one and two, respectively. Kelli Sorensen and Kelsey Fleck had 14 kills apiece in the match while Katie Troyer led the way with 15 kills for the Lady Eagles. Wingate stepped up its blocking in the latter games, recording 14 blocks for the match. Jacki Emmenecker had five blocks to lead the Bulldogs.
Carson-Newman hit .149, -.086, and .286 in the last three games. The Lady Eagles got to within 14-11 in the final game, but Wingate claimed the final point to win the game 15-11 and the match. Kari Gibson had 46 assists to lead the Lady Eagles and Haley Bush had 19 digs.
