Eagle VB Falls To Lenoir-Rhyne
March 29, 2007
JEFFERSON CITY, TN--The Carson Newman Eagle volleyball team could not force a fifth game Saturday afternoon as South Atlantic Conference opponent Lenior-Rhyne beat the Eagles in 4 games (25-30, 30-26, 21-30, 26-30). The loss puts the Eagles at 1-3 in the conference.
"Kelsey Fleck and Melissa Miller played strong for us today, " coach Shannon Mincey said. "Both of those players really put the ball away at critical moments. Our setter didnt do as well executing which hitters were on for us. The substitution of Allyson Corhn made a difference as it allowed Gibson to hit. Allyson did a great job coming off the bench for us. Our team chemistry and energy was there especially in game 2 coming back from a 10 point deficit to win the game. However we came up short in game 4 and Lenoir-Rhyne found a way to win on the road. I have to credit their heart and hard work after coming off a close 5 game victory to Tusculum the night before. We will continue to work on our middle offense which is lacking right now. One of our goals is to finish strong in this conference and now in order to do that we have to play tougher."
