JEFFERSON CITY, TN-- Katie Troyer had 15 kills and the Lady Eagles hit .319 for the match in defeating Palm Beach Atlantic, 3-0 (30-27, 30-28, 30-19) in the second round of the Carson-newman regional tournament at Holt Fieldhouse on Saturday, October 14.
Carson-Newman (12-12) gained the advantage after pulling out a 30-27 victory in game one. The Lady Eagles hit .222, but good serving by Kelsey Fleck and Melissa Miller kept the Lady Eagles going. Miller collected five service aces while Fleck added two in the match.
The Lady Eagles then hit a match-best .452 in game two. Kari Gibson paced the Lady Eagle offense with 30 assists, seven kills, and added four digs on defense.
C-N dominated game three as Salem Stepp, Kelli Sorensen, and Haley Bush held the Lady Eagle defense together. Stepp and Sorensen had five digs while Bush added six. Sorensen added nine kills along with Miller while Troyer led with three block assists.
