Lady Eagle VB Falls In Five

WINGATE, NC-- Carson-Newman led Wingate 2-0 before the Lady Bulldogs rallied to defeat the Lady Eagles in five games on Friday night. Wingate was victorious in the match 28-30, 26-30, 30-21, 31-29 and 18-16. The Bulldogs improve to 15-4 overall and 6-0 in the SAC. The Carson-Newman Eagles fall to 9-8 and 2-4 in the SAC.
The Carson-Newman offense was led by its senior setter Kari Gibson (Celina, Ohio) who totaled 10 kills and 44 assists. Gibson also had a team-high 18 digs. Carson-Newman sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Fleck (Celina, Ohio) led the Eagle offense with 18 kills and a hitting percentage of .317 for the match. Junior outside hitter Kelli Sorensen (Maple Grove, Minn.) added 14 kills for Carson-Newman.
