Lady Eagles Fall To Rollins

JEFFERSON CITY, TN-- The Lady Eagle volleyball squad took an early 1-0 lead, but Rollins College rallied to win the next three games to win the match, 3-1 in the opening round of the Carson-Newman regional tournament at Holt Fieldhouse.
C-N (11-12) hit a team best .294 in games one and three. Kelli Sorensen led the Lady Eagles with 17 kills while Melissa Miller added 12. Miller and Haley Bush led the Lady Eagle defensive effort with seven digs apiece. Kari Gibson paced the offense with 37 assists and added five kills for Carson-Newman.
Rollins relied on outside hitter Piper Young throughout the match. Young led the Tars with 28 kills and seven digs while Lacy Malarkey contributed 48 assists. Stephanie Nichols had 17 kills for Rollins College in the victory. The Tars hit .303 for the match, including a team-best .395 in game four.
