Lady Eagles Lose To Catawba

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba swept visiting Carson-Newman in three games in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym, winning by the scores of 30-24, 30-16 and 30-25. The Lady Eagles fall to 9-9 and 2-5.
In the first game, Carson-Newman trailed 18-12, but Kelli Sorensen had three kills in a run that brought the Lady Eagles to within 22-21. Catawba was able to regroup and got three kills down the stretch from Melissa Griffith to end the game.
Catawba led 19-9 in the third game before Carson-Newman came to life behind the serving of Melissa Miller . Miller keyed a five-point run with a pair of aces and the Lady Eagles would eventually pull within 20-17. That would be as close as CN would come as Catawba won seven of the next 10 points to lead 27-20. Sorensen collected 13 kills for the Lady Eagles, while Haley Bush (Spartanburg, SC) led the team with 21 digs.
