Lady Eagles Host Mars Hill in SAC Tournament Tuesday

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The top-seeded Carson-Newman Lady Eagles host eighth-seeded Mars Hill Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at McCown Field in the first round of the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Women's Soccer Tournament.
With a win, Carson-Newman (12-5, 6-1 SAC) will advance to the semifinals , which will be played on Friday, November 7 at Manchester Meadows soccer complex in Rock Hill, S.C. C-N will face the winner of No. 4 Tusculum and No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne.
C-N beat Mars Hill 2-0, behind two goals from senior Brittany Moore (Lenoir City, Tenn.) on October 4 in Jefferson City. The match was the only meeting between the teams this season.
The Lady Eagles wrapped up the 2008 SAC regular season title with a 1-0 win Saturday night against Newberry. C-N has won 7-of-8 matches against D-II opponents, including five shutouts from freshman keeper Lauren MacKenzie (Barrie, Ontario, Can.).
Carson-Newman is currently third in the D-II Southeast Regional rankings. The top six teams at season's end advance to the NCAA Tournament.
The Lady Eagles are seeking a sixth consecutive postseason appearance.
