Carson-Newman Falls to Metro State 4-0

DENVER, COLO. - The Lady Eagles fell to nationally ranked Metro State College 4-0 during their match in Denver, Colorado. Carson-Newman holds a record of 6-3 on the season.
Metro State came out strong in the first half, scoring all four of their goals. The Roadrunners struck first in the fifth minute of the game when Becca Mays found the back of the net with an assist from Kathryn Gosstyla. Ten minutes later, in the 17th minute of the game, Vanessa Mais slid the ball past C-N keeper Shannon Clancy on a penalty kick.
Becca Mays struck again for the Roadrunners in the 25th minute of the game when she finished a ball from Madison McQuilliams. Metro State finished the first half with a goal from Caitlin Oliver to make the halftime score 4-0.
During the second half, the Lady Eagles held the Lady Roadrunners to a 0-0 score, making the final score 4-0 in favor of Metro State.
Returning to Tennessee, the Lady Eagles will take on conference rival Tusculum College Wednesday, October 1, at 8 p.m. on McCown Field.
