Lady Eagles Roll Through King, 6-1
Sept. 18, 2008
BRISTOL, Tenn. - Freshman Trenna Howell's (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) first three career goal rallied Carson-Newman (4-1) to a 6-1 win at King College in Bristol, Tenn. Wednesday night.
After King took an early 1-0 lead on a penalty kick, Howell poured in two of C-N three goals in a 20-minute span to put the match out of reach.
The first Howell goal came in the 30th minute. Senior Brittany Moore (Lenoir City, Tenn.) would give the Lady Eagles the lead for good shortly after, driving a header into the back of the net off the assist from Megan Julian (Knoxville, Tenn.).
Howell would get her second goal early in the second half to push the lead to 3-1.
Sophomore Morgan Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, Tenn.) and freshman Melanie Shannon (Kelowna, B.C., Can.) would each add goals to stretch the C-N lead.
Howell would net her third goal late in the match, to reach the final margin.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Saturday with a night match at Lenoir-Rhyne. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
