Buford leads nation in field goal percentage for second straight week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the second week in a row, Carson-Newman junior forward Shari Buford (Hampton, Ga.) currently leads the nation in field-goal percentage according to NCAA statistics released earlier this week.
Buford is currently shooting 60.5% from the field, making 107 out-of 177 shots.
Junior guard Ashley Kyle (Jefferson City, Tenn.) is also listed in the NCAA statistics alongside Buford once again. Kyle is ranked 32nd in assists per game (5.0) and 40th in the country in assist-turnover ratio (1.75).
Additionally, senior forward Ashley Tipton (Knoxville, Tenn.) jumped from 30th to 21nd in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage (43.1%).
As a team, the Lady Eagles (15-5, 6-3 in South Atlantic Conference) are shooting at a 47.4% field-goal percentage, earning them 7th place in the nation. Carson-Newman is also 7th in the nation in scoring offense (82.7%), 45th in won-lost percentage (75.0%) and 45th in steals per game (11.2), and 48th in three-point field-goal percentage (35.4%).
The Lady Eagles will be back in action Saturday afternoon at Mars Hill. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Mars Hill, N.C.
