Lady Vols Defeat Carson-Newman in Exhibition Play

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Lady Vol basketball team defeated Carson Newman 135-55 at Thompson-Boling Arena Thursday night. It was Carson-Newman's second and final game of the exhibition schedule.
A taller UT squad dominated play on both ends of the court against the Lady Eagles. The Lady Vols were led by freshman Glory Johnson led with 33 points and 14 rebounds. Kelly Cain, a red-shirt freshman, was 8-11 from the floor and netted 18 points.
Mandy Mendenhall led the way for Carson-Newman with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Megan Hunter and Tykira McDaniel added 8 and 7 points respectively to the Lady Eagle cause.
Carson-Newman will open regular season play Saturday, November 15, against Lander as part of the annual Eagle Club Classic. Tip-off is schedulec for 4 p.m. at Holt Fieldhouse.
