Buford leads nation in field goal percentage

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Carson-Newman junior forward Shari Buford (Hampton, Ga.) leads the nation in field-goal percentage according to NCAA statistics released earlier this week.
Buford is currently shooting 61.6% from the field, making 98 out-of 159 shots.
Junior guard Ashley Kyle (Jefferson City, Tenn.) is also listed in the NCAA statistics alongside Buford. Kyle is ranked 32nd in assists per game (5.0) and 35th in the country in assist-turnover ratio (1.8).
Additionally, senior forward Ashley Tipton (Knoxville, Tenn.) is 30th in the nation in three-point field-goal percentage (42.9%).
As a team, the Lady Eagles (14-4, 5-2 in South Atlantic Conference) are shooting at a 47.9% field-goal percentage, earning them 3rd place in the nation. Carson-Newman is also 5th in the nation in scoring offense (83.9%), 33rd in won-lost percentage (77.8%) and 37th in steals per game (11.4).
The Lady Eagles will be back in action Wednesday night at Catawba. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Goodman Gymnasium in Salisbury, N.C.
