Six Lady Eagles reach double figures as C-N remains undefeated

DAHLONEGA, GA. - Six Carson-Newman players scored in double figures as the Lady Eagles improved to 5-0 Saturday with a 97-72 win over West Alabama in the X-Trem Shootout.
Shari Buford had a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Angela Volentine led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 16 points, followed by Ashley Kyle with 15. Zoriah Williams contributed 13 points, while Ashley Tipton and Lindsey Eggleston contributed 10 apiece.
Carson-Newman shot 53-percent (35-of-66) from the field and held a 45-34 advantage in rebounding.
West Alabama shot 55-percent in the first half to jump out to a 37-30 lead. Carson-Newman responded with a 67-point second half to cruise to victory.
Keiara Middleton scored 25 points to lead West Alabama, while Valerie Harris added 21.
Carson-Newman will return home Wednesday to host Maryville College at 6 p.m.
