ANDERSON, S.C. – Carson-Newman women's soccer senior defender Annika Fend was named First Team All-Southeast Region by the D2CCA on Tuesday afternoon.
Fend adds to her first team honors after being first team All-SAC a few weeks ago. This is her first all-region honor and third career honor overall. Fend was one of the top four defenders in the region. It's C-N's first all-region honor since Abbie Zander in 2023.
Carson-Newman was one of five South Atlantic Conference schools recognized and one of 12 in the entire Southeast Region.
The senior defender was a reliable piece of Carson-Newman's defense all season long. Her 1,401 minutes played were the most by an Eagle this season. She was also one of just two Eagles to start every game this season.
Defensively, Fend was one of several consistent defenders that led C-N to seven shutouts in 15 games this season. Not only was her presence felt on the defensive side, but on the offensive end as well. The Herxheim, Germany native scored two goals and led the Eagles with her five assists, three of which came during league games.
"It's a team sport and none of this would be possible without my teammates," Fend said. "I think they set me up for success this season. Each of them work so hard on the field every day. I'm just very thankful to share this with them and for them helping me be a better player every day as well."
