ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference has announced its preseason all-conference team and players to watch list, with Carson-Newman women's soccer having three players named as players to watch Tuesday morning.
Felicia Frick, Malia Kim and Iris Palsdottir were Carson-Newman's three players listed among the players to watch for the upcoming season.
Frick returns as Carson-Newman's second-most experienced player, with 49 starts over the past three seasons. The two-time All-SAC midfielder is the program's all-time leader in penalty kick goals with seven and has not missed in her career. She has scored multiple goals in each of her first three years and has seven career assists to total 25 career points.
Kim was mentioned often as C-N's most improved player in 2024, playing in all 16 games and starting all but one in her junior year. The Oak Ridge native played the fifth-most minutes on the club and recorded her first career assist against Limestone on Oct 6. She has played in every game since joining the Eagles in 2023.
Palsdottir is coming off a 2024 season where she was one of just four Eagles to start and play in every game. As a center back, she helped a C-N defense produce four shutouts in 2024 and held opponents to one goal or less in 11 of the 16 games. She contributed offensively as well for C-N, assisting on Molly Bukiewicz's first career goal in a 2-0 win over King on Sept 11. The junior defender has made starts in all 29 of her appearances.
Carson-Newman opens the 2025 season on September 4th, on the road against Union at 3:00 p.m. The game can be streamed on FloSports with a subscription. Fans can also follow along to @CN_Eagles on X (Twitter) and Instagram for in-game updates.
