ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the fifth time this season, Carson-Newman earns a weekly honor. Felicia Frick was named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning by the league office.
The Eagles have earned five weekly honors from the SAC this season, the most for the program since the conference began handing out weekly honors over the past two decades. Carson-Newman matches Catawba for the most weekly honors from the league this season.
Frick joins Molly Bukiewicz as C-N's offensive player of the week winners this season. The program's other three weekly honors are defensive player of the weeks by Annika Fend, Olivia Henry and Berna Kabakci. The weekly honor for Frick is the first of her career.
The senior midfielder collects this weekly honor after her first career hat trick on Wednesday versus Tusculum. It was C-N's first hat trick since Sydnee Duncan versus Coker on October 23, 2021.
"During the game you don't really think about what it actually means," the senior midfielder said. "Now after the game and you realize its your last game on this pitch it means more. I've given so much for this program, school and university and your life for the past four years. To get three goals and a 4-0 win for your last home game is a great memory and I'm so thankful for everything I have experienced here."
Frick's first and third goals were penalty kick goals in the 10th and 68th minutes. The two-time All-SAC midfielder ends her career a perfect 11-11 from the spot.
"When you've got someone who has taken penalty kicks for her national team on an international stage, I think she's got this wrapped up," Carson-Newman head coach Simon Duffy said. "Mature, calm and collected. I have players that I can rely on and she is one of them. She's so reliable and you can bank on it."
The Eschen, Liechtenstein native scored her second goal just 11 minutes after her first goal. Bukiewicz booted a cross toward the back post where Frick ran after it. She dribbled around one defender and from the left side, sliced a shot across the goal and past the goalkeeper to extend C-N's lead in the 21st minute.
In 62 career starts, Frick scored 15 goals and added 10 assists for a 40-point career.
