JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Felicia Frick's final home game on McCown Field will be one she remembers quite well. The senior midfielder recorded her first career hat trick in Carson-Newman's (8-6-3, 4-3-3 SAC) 4-0 shutout win over Tusculum on Wednesday night.
Frick's hat trick is the first of her career and C-N's first hat trick since seeing Sydnee Duncan record one versus Coker on October 23, 2021.
"During the game you don't really think about what it actually means," the senior midfielder said. "Now after the game and you realize its your last game on this pitch it means more. I've given so much for this program, school and university and your life for the past four years. To get three goals and a 4-0 win for your last home game is a great memory and I'm so thankful for everything I have experienced here."
The win sends Carson-Newman into the postseason on a two-match unbeaten streak. The Eagles end their home slate 4-2-2 at McCown Field.
Carson-Newman's four-goal outburst is the fifth time this season it has scored four goals or more in a game. C-N will enter postseason play unbeaten in eight of its past nine matches.
"I think we just picked up where we left off against Anderson in the second half last time out," Carson-Newman head coach Simon Duffy said. "Last week we had our most shots of the season in SAC play and tonight we break that again. Just a lot of intent from the players. We knew a win before kick off guaranteed us a finish in sixth and go to Anderson and play them on Saturday and the girls were excited for that."
It was all Carson-Newman in the opening half. C-N's relentless pressure led to three shots in the first eight minutes. Annika Fend's shot was saved in the 3rd minute and the other two missed the target. The consistent offensive pressure led to a penalty kick in the 10th minute. Molly Bukiewicz crossed a ball into the box that deflected off the hand of a Pioneers defender, giving C-N a PK. As always, Felicia Frick stepped up and buried her 10th career penalty kick, slotting the shot in the bottom left corner to make it 1-0 Eagles.

Even with the early lead, C-N continued to dominate the game and it resulted in many more chances. Bukiewicz saw TU keeper Noemie Tatrou make her second save on a shot toward the left side in the 12th minute. The Eagles would compile three corner kicks and three shots over the next eight minutes of the match and eventually would add to its lead. Bukiewicz booted a cross toward the back post where Frick ran after it. Frick dribbled around one defender and from the left side, sliced a shot across the goal and past Tatrou to extend the lead in the 21st minute.

The Pioneers would only get two shots, their second of which came in the 31st minute. Brynn Stokes' header off a corner kick forced C-N goalie Berna Kabakci to punch away the attempt to make her second save. Neither side attempted a shot in the final 13 minutes and it was a 2-0 game at intermission.
There was only one shot in the first eight minutes after halftime, but C-N continued to dominate possession and it would eventually lead to more chances and more goals as well.
In the 57th minute, Audrey Gallagher set up Selina Jud and the senior forward dribbled to her left and rocketed a left-footed shot into the top left corner of goal to extend the C-N advantage to 3-0.

Tusculum's only two shots on goal would come after that third C-N goal. In the 58th minute, Sydney Grant forced Kabakci into a save and three minutes later Bree Ooten did as well. Kabakci was good all night in her return to the net to earn her fifth clean sheet of the year and the team's seventh in 15 games.
Great effort would lead to another penalty kick for Carson-Newman in the 68th minute. Elysia Teske sprinted after a cross into the box, outracing the goalkeeper to the ball and was then fouled by a TU defender to set up a second PK. Once more, Frick stayed perfect in her career from the spot, knocking home her third goal of the night to seal the victory.
"When you've got someone who has taken penalty kicks for her national team on an international stage, I think she's got this wrapped up," Duffy said. "Mature, calm and collected. I have players that I can rely on and she is one of them. She's so reliable and you can bank on it."

Carson-Newman would fire off six more shots over the final 20 minutes of the match, a couple of which were really good looks but never would add to its lead again.
The Eagles mustered up a season-high 26 shots, one more than its previous high and held Tusculum to just five shots, four of which were saved by Kabakci.
Four different Eagles were involved in the scoring, with Frick and Jud combining for the four goals and Bukiewicz and Gallagher recording assists.
Duffy's team is the number six seed and will travel to third-seeded Anderson Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. A video stream is available with a subscription to FloSports at cneagles.com/floWsoc.
