Benson adds Roach to coaching staff as graduate assistant
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head men’s basketball coach Chuck Benson has announced the hiring of Case Roach to be the program’s new graduate assistant coach.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head men's basketball coach Chuck Benson has announced the hiring of Case Roach to be the program's new graduate assistant coach.
Roach played basketball at fellow South Atlantic Conference school Anderson last year after spending his first four seasons collegiately at North Georgia.
"We're excited to have Case here," Benson said. "He has great experiences as a player at both North George and Anderson. He has existing relationships with people already in our organization. He has great personality and is a man of strong Christian conviction who we look forward to helping us grow as a team."
Roach scored 343 points in his basketball career across 88 career games. He was a member of North Georgia's Elite Eight run in 2023-24. He appeared in 34 games that season for the Nighthawks averaging 3.2 points per game on 43 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from three. He averaged 6.2 points and three boards per game as a junior for the Nighthawks.
Roach was a four-time all-region selection, two-time all-state and two-time all-county honoree at Travelers Rest High School. A two-time region champion, he was the region player of the year and second all-time in scoring for TRHS.
The son of Bill and Wendy Roach, his father won a 1-AA national championship in 1988 as a member of the Furman football team.
