Eagles face Newberry Saturday Night

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman men's soccer team (5-1-1 SAC, 10-3-2 overall) is tied with Tusculum and Newberry heading into the final day of the regular season.
While Carson-Newman and Newberry battle it out for a piece of the SAC crown, Tusculum will be hosting Lenoir-Rhyne. Should Tusculum fall, the winner of tonight's contest in Jefferson City will win the conference championship outright.
A win by the Pioneers would give them a share the title with the C-N/Newberry winner.
The Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament begins this coming week, with the first round being played at the higher seeds.

Carson-Newman has positioned itself for a return to the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Eagles are currently ranked fourth in the Southeast Region Poll, with the top six teams making the NCAA tourney.
Freshman Robert Hill currently leads the Eagles in scoring with nine goals.
Farragut High School product Ben Backstrom and sophomore Matthew Finlay have added four apiece. Freshman Ross Carhart has posted a team-high four assists.
Goal keeper Jordan Moore currently leads the conference in goals against average (.66) and save percentage (.849).
The Eagles are currely ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Standings. the top six teams advance to the NCAA Tournament.
C-N will host in the first round of the Food Lion South Atlnatic Conference Tournamenty beginning this week. The opening round match will be in Jefferson City on either Tuesday or Wednesday night.
