Eagles Fourth in Regional Poll
Oct. 29, 2008
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Eagles are fourth in this week's NCAA Southeast Region Soccer Poll.
C-N held its ground after a 1-0-1 week, in which the Eagles knocked off Belmont Abbey 2-1 in a key regional match, and tied Milligan 2-2 on Saturday night in Elizabethton, Tenn.
The Eagles' 3-1 win over King on Tuesday evening, as well as the Milligan match, do not factor into the NCAA Regional Poll.
Rival-Tusculum holds the top spot in the poll. SAC-foes Lincoln Memorial and Wingate are knotted together in the eighth spot.
The top six teams in the poll advance to the NCAA Tournament.
C-N has just one match remaining in the regular season. They host Newberry for Senior Night on Saturday in Jefferson City. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
With a win Saturday, the Eagles would clinch at least a share of the South Atlantic Conference title.
