Eagles Fall to Northern Kentucky in Double OT

WILDER, KY. - After two regulation periods and two overtimes, Carson-Newman falls to Northern Kentucky University. NKU's Steven Beattie slipped a header goal in past Eagle keeper Jordan Moore (Hendersonville, Tenn.) with 8 seconds left on the clock to clinch the win 1-0.
Carson-Newman fought hard through regulation and overtimes. The eagles has 15 shots and 5 corner kicks. The Eagles battled through many fouls, 26 against them yet contributed 25 of their own.
The Norse goal came from a corner kick in the last seconds of the game from Tony Ray. Steven Beattie headed the ball into the back of the net for the golden goal win.
Keeper Jordan Moore (Hendersonville, Tenn.) kept the Eagles in the game with 7 saves. Omar Cooke (Roanoke, Va.), Anthony Chiappetta (Morristown, Tenn.), and Robert Hill (Middlesbrough, England) contributed 3 shots each for the Eagle effort.
Carson-Newman put up a fight against the #3 ranked Northern Kentucky Norse. The Eagles (1-1) will face Lees-McRae on Wednesday, September 10 at 5 p.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.
