JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – For the fifth straight week, Carson-Newman baseball (28-11) is ranked by the American Baseball Coaches Association, falling back to No. 21 in the latest poll that was announced yesterday.
The Eagles have been ranked as high as ninth by the ABCA this season, with this 21st ranking being the lowest over the last five weeks. This ranking does not reflect C-N's 14-run win over UVA Wise yesterday and only counts this past week in which C-N went 1-3.
Carson-Newman is one of three teams from the South Atlantic Conference in the rankings. Lenoir-Rhyne is the highest ranked team at No. 7, with Catawba right behind them in eighth.
Four other schools in the Southeast region are in the rankings, headlined by three Conference Carolinas schools. The CC is represented by Young Harris at ten, North Greenville at 11 and Francis Marion sneaks in at 24th. North Georgia is the only Peach Belt school in the rankings, checking in at 16 with a 27-10 record.
Carson-Newman is back in action this weekend versus #10/6 Lenoir-Rhyne. The three-game home weekend series is scheduled to begin on Friday at 2:00 p.m. All games will air with a video stream available on FloSports with a subscription. There will also be a free audio stream available courtesy of the Eagle Sports Network on cneagles.com/live.
