Eagles ranked 21st in NCBWA poll
Carson-Newman (12-2) baseball is ranked 21st in the third edition of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll that was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
WINGATE, N.C. – Carson-Newman (12-2) baseball is ranked 21st in the third edition of the 2025 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll that was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
It's C-N's first time in the rankings since March 6, 2019, when the Eagles were ranked 25th after a 16-3 start to that season. Carson-Newman was ranked multiple times during the 2019 season.
Tom Griffin's team got off to its best start in the program's modern history this seasno, starting the year 10-0. Prior to this season, the best start was a 7-0 start during 2020. The Eagles have started conference play with a 5-1 record.
The Eagles enter the NCBWA rankings with a 12-2 record after receiving votes in the first two weeks of this year's poll.
C-N joins Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne as South Atlantic Conference teams in the top 25. Catawba is ranked 11th with a 10-4 record while the Bears are 17th and have an identical record to Carson-Newman.
The only other school ranked from the Southeast region is the number one team in the country, North Greenville. The Trailblazers received 15 first-place votes and are 14-1 this season.
