C-N Volleyball Program Earns AVCA Team Academic Award
Carson-Newman's indoor and beach volleyball teams were recently recognized with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, as announced by the organization last week.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman indoor and beach volleyball programs have been honored with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, the organization announced last week.
The AVCA recognizes programs that demonstrate academic excellence by maintaining a year-long team GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale). The Eagles earned this distinction by upholding that standard throughout the academic year.
"Our team takes a lot of pride in our academics and being student-athletes," said head coach Cat Collins. "These athletes work hard every day on the court and in the classroom. We are so proud of all the work they do. We couldn't do it without the great support of our professors and academic support staff."
This marks the third time the Carson-Newman volleyball programs have received the AVCA Team Academic Award, with previous honors coming after the 2020–21 season and last year's campaign. It also marks the second consecutive year the Eagles have been recognized for their academic achievements off the court.
"This program continues to be the image of great student-athletes. I'm proud of all the athletes and the hard work they put into their academics," added Collins.
