JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman beach volleyball opens the 2026 season this weekend with a three-match slate at Truett McConnell University, marking the Eagles' first competitive action of the spring.
"We're excited to be playing people that aren't ourselves," said head coach Cat Collins. "This is a great opportunity for the team to get its feet wet before facing tougher competition. We're using this weekend to focus on us and making sure we are comfortable implementing each pair's offense and defense. This weekend is about getting prepared for the rest of the season."
Carson-Newman begins opening day Friday, Feb. 13, with a matchup against Huntingdon at 11:45 a.m. EST. Later that day, the Eagles return to the sand to face the University of Mobile at 3:15 p.m. EST.
The opening weekend concludes Saturday morning as Carson-Newman takes on Florida Memorial at 7:45 a.m. EST, rounding out the Eagles' first weekend of competition.
"We have a great culture and we are very team-focused," Collins said. "We want to serve each other well by cheering for one another and being excited. There are a couple of people for whom this will be their first game, but I know they're going to do great and have the support of the team behind them."
The Eagles kick off the 2026 season with two matches Friday, Feb. 13, at 11:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., before closing opening weekend with an early-morning contest at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14.
