Carson-Newman Cruises to 13-0 with Twin 5-0 Victories
Carson-Newman beach volleyball remained perfect on the season Friday, overpowering Regent and Lynchburg in a pair of 5-0 sweeps to improve to 13-0.
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman beach volleyball continued its dominant start to the season Friday, sweeping both Regent and Lynchburg by identical 5-0 scores to move to 13-0 on the year.
The Eagles opened the day with a commanding win over Regent, winning all five flights in straight sets while allowing more than 12 points in just three sets.
Trinity Hafey and Paige Halcrow led the way at the top flight with a 21-12, 21-10 victory over Alaina Braun-Duin and Keira Anderson. Ava Potts and Emerson Ahsmuhs followed with an identical 21-12, 21-10 win at No. 2.
Carson-Newman's most dominant performance came from Addie Smith and Camryn Ehlers at No. 3, who cruised to a 21-4, 21-6 victory. Morgan Foy and Lucy Bartee added a 21-0 shutout in the opening set at No. 4 before finishing the match 21-8. Kelcey Peterson and Madison Trondle closed out the sweep with a 21-6, 21-4 win at No. 5.

In the second dual of the day, Carson-Newman again swept the board against Lynchburg, though the top flight required a comeback.
Hafey and Halcrow dropped the opening set 21-17 to Amanda Trapp and Kailey Keough before rallying to win the final two sets 21-16 and 15-12 to secure the point. Potts and Ahsmuhs continued their strong play at No. 2 with a 21-8, 21-12 victory.
Smith and Ehlers added another straight-set win at No. 3, defeating Parker Lynch and Noelle Slye 21-15, 21-5. Foy and Bartee followed with a 21-10, 21-13 victory at No. 4.
Peterson and Trondle capped the day for the Eagles with a 21-19, 21-11 win over Cara Taylor and Lydia Nelson at No. 5.
