Eagles Prep For Doubleheader At Berry College
Carson-Newman prepares for a midweek road doubleheader at Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga., on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with matches scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – Carson-Newman prepares for a midweek road doubleheader at Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga., on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with matches scheduled for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
"Berry is a great program, and their coaches do a great job," said head coach Cat Collins. "Their indoor program just went to the Elite Eight, so we need to be prepared."
After a strong opening weekend in which the Eagles swept all three matchups, Carson-Newman faces a quick turnaround as it prepares to compete against higher-level competition.
"Berry is a great program, and it's going to be similar to playing ourselves," Collins said. "We need to highlight areas where we need to grow, which will help us when we get into conference play. They run a very similar offense to us, so it's good to play a team like us because it shows where we need to improve and what we need to work on."
Wednesday's contest marks the Eagles' first matchup with Berry College since the 2024 season, when Carson-Newman earned a 4-1 victory.
"We need to improve the things that we can control," Collins said. "Playing teams that weren't as strong opening weekend helped us learn that we don't want to play down to a team's level. We want to come in motivated, strong, and focused on the things we can control—whether that's energy, effort, or shot selection. Those are areas we are focusing on heading into this week. We have all the skills to beat a team; we just need to communicate what we see so we can implement those skills."
The Eagles will take on Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga., on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
