NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After breaking the school record in his first event with Carson-Newman, Cadence Dolgin outdoes himself, setting a new bar in the pole vault on the first day of the Music City Challenge. Joining in on the record-breaking day was Lovelyne Larrame, besting her previous school record in the 200m, at 24.58 seconds.
Larrame and Dolgin finished in 6th and 9th place in their respective events.
Elsewhere at Vanderbilt, Rylan Jordan set his PR in the 60m dash at 6.71 seconds, good for second place in the entire field, with the finals set for tomorrow. Amine Kasmi, fresh off his SAC Athlete of the Week honors, was 12th in the 60m at the end of day one. Also, Andre Morrison, last year's 60m National Champion, made his debut this year and shook off the rust with a time of 7.33 seconds.
Kasmi's day was not done, he took sixth place in the 200m, 21.51. Favour Ekpekpe bested him in the event, notching fourth place with a time of 21.44 seconds.
In the women's 60m, Sade de Sousa just snuck into the next round with a time of 7.70 seconds, just a hundredth of a second off from missing the cut.
Brooke Taylor in the field finished in 24th in the long jump, finishing with a distance of 5.48m.
On the men's side of the field, Blayne Jackson claimed fifth place in the men's high jump.
MILL SPRING, N.C. – Meanwhile, at the Tryon Mid-Winter Invitational, Carson-Newman had a quiet day with a handful of athletes competing.
Kellie Ivens took eighth place in the women's high jump, clearing 1.50m. As Lizzy Hall took 20th in the women's shot put, with a toss of 10.85m.
Caleb Greene and Daniel Heath competed in the men's pole vault but were unable to clear their first height.
