JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The waiting is over for head coach Kieran Showler-Davis and the Indoor Track and Field team, as the 2025-26 season begins tomorrow.
The Eagles start the season at the Liberty Kickoff on December 4 and 5, hosted by Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Then on Saturday, December 6, Carson-Newman will travel an hour North to Lexington for the VMI Colonel Bev Read Opener.
"I'm feeling excited and optimistic," Showler-Davis said in anticipation of the start of the new year. "It's still very early, but it's always exciting seeing where returners are in their training and getting a first chance to see new athletes have a run out."
The Eagles will be one of 35 schools competing on the Brant Tolsma Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. Thursday's competition is expected to 9:30 a.m., with the Friday session set for a 9 a.m. start time.
Saturday is slated for 1 p.m. from the CPTF-Corps Physical Training Facility at VMI.
"Competition is the fun part of the year," Showler-Davis said. "These early meets give us a chance to knock off some rust and a gauge going into Christmas of where we're at individually."
These mark the only two events in December, before the season fully kicks into gear in the new year following Winter Break.
