Fisher cards another round of under par and sits inside the top ten after day one
All five Eagles tallied rounds of 70 or better in round one and sit just outside the top five in the team standings, while Emery Fisher sits two under and is solo fourth in the field.
MCCORMICK, S.C.- All five Eagles tallied rounds of 70 or better in round one and sit just outside the top five in the team standings, while Emery Fisher sits two under and is solo fourth in the field.
Fisher had an incredibly clean scorecard in round one, with just one bogey in the first 18, the junior recorded four birdies (holes 2, 14, 17, and 18) to lead Carson-Newman with a 69. This was a career best for Fisher, her previous low round a 71.
"I was very excited to see Emery throw up another under-par first day and be in the hunt for a top finish again tomorrow. She's a great player and it's showing in these first few rounds of the season so far," said head coach Alyssa Montgomery following the 36 holes.
Grace Lambert was the next best for the Eagles after 18. Lambert did a great job of taking care of the par fives, with two birdies on holes nine and 15. It was one double bogey on the 12th hole that would count against her, but still, her round of 76 was good to count for the team score.
Rylee Tucker matched her with a 76 as well. Tucker's one double was on the par five 11th, but would birdie holes 18 and 6. Madison Miller followed closely behind with a 77. Four straight bogeys from hole 12-15 would give Miller a 39 on the back, but seven pars on the front was good for a 38 on the front.
Anaelle Picot also finished in the 70s with a 78. Picot carded just one birdie on the par five 15th.
The Eagles were equally as steady in the second round. Emery Fisher again recorded another great round. Her four birdies were just barely outweighed by five bogeys. With a 73 in round two, the junior sits at -2 and in solo fourth.
Lambert improved by two strokes in the second round to come in after 36 holes at +6 with a 74 in round two. After starting bogey, bogey, the freshman would rally to birdie the 13th and 14th to shoot even on the back. Another birdie on the fourth hole would slot her for a 38 on the front. She sits 20th overall.
Anaelle Picot made a four-stroke improvement in the second round to come in at 74 in round two. Picot birdied her first hole of the second round and went on to bogey holes 14 and 17. The grad student has a two-day score of +8 and sits in 28th.
Madison Miller was the final score to count toward the team in round two. Miller made one birdie in the second round on the final hole of the day to shoot 79. Miller sits in 44th, tied with Rylee Tucker in the field following her second 18-hole score of 80.
The Lee Lady Flames lead the field right now with a team score of +2 across the two rounds. Lee's Hannah Nall leads the event at -6. The Eagles hold are +22 through 26 holes as a team and slot 6th among the field of 15.
"Really great scores al around, good improvement from the first event. Was very glad to see their hard work paying off. They've gotten some of the first tournament nerves out of the way and have locked in," said Montgomery.
The Eagles tee off at 9:00 AM tomorrow for the final 18 holes.
