OKATIE, S.C. – #26 Carson-Newman Women's Golf was through 10 holes when costal weather cut the day short. The day of play was suspended with plans to continue the round tomorrow.
The Eagles were tied for 5th when the tournament directors and coaches called day one of the Oldfield Intercollegiate, hosted by USC Beaufort. The weather had no plans of relenting for the rest of the day, and as such, the tournament will be shorted to 36 holes.
The ten holes that were played on Monday will count toward the first round of eighteen, which will be finished tomorrow morning. This means the Eagles will play 26 holes to finish out the event tomorrow. Thanks to their strong play through the first few holes, C-N is tied for 4th.
Before play was suspended, two Eagle were in the top two. Anaelle Picot and Emery Fisher were both tied at -3, just a stroke behind the leader of the event.
Picot was even through five holes before she birdied three holes in a row from 8-10. She finished with two pars and will pick up on hole 13 tomorrow morning.
Fisher started the morning with three pars in route to back-to-back birdies on the 7th and 8th holes. She then bounced back from a bogey at the 9th with back-to-back birdies again on the 11th and 12th holes.
Grace Lambert, Madison Miller, Rylee Tucker, and Parker Miller (Ind.) were all tied at seven-over. Each player had made at least four pars throughout the round, and none of the women were double-bogey-free. They were all tied at 57th.
C-N was tied for 4th place with Columbus State at +8. They are a stroke back of #5 Eastern Florida State, two strokes back of #17 UIndy, and five strokes back of #50 Catawba.
The start time for tomorrow's action is 8:30. Live scoring is available on the Clipd website.
