JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's golf coach Alyssa Montgomery has announced the 2025 fall schedule kicking off with the DII South Regional Preview and rounding out with two trips to Georgia.
After a seventh-place finish in the SAC Championships last year and a trip to the DII South Regional, Eagles women's golf picks up right where they left off with the first tournament of the year at the NCAA South Regional Preview on September 15-16.
In just her second semester as head coach Montgomery has lot of reasons to look forward to the 2025-26 season.
"I'm excited to have this first full year with them. I only got the spring semester in this last year," she said. "We're bringing in a lot of new girls including some that I've recruited. I've been watching them play all summer so very excited to get them out on the course and see what they got this year."
The South Regional Preview will be played at Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tennessee where the Eagles will get a chance to preview the course they will be playing for regionals in the spring.
With five new freshman joining the team this fall, Mongomery says this initial tournament will be a great opportunity to get them up to speed before the championship season in the spring.
"We're going to have a little individual out there so we'll get six of our girls. We've got a very new team, so I'm excited to bring an extra person up there and get one of our extra freshmen in there playing a little bit more," said Montgomery.
After the regional preview, C-N will head to South Carolina for the Savannah Lakes Invitational and round out the fall slate with two trips to Georgia; the St. Simons Intercollegiate in St. Simons Island and the LeeAnn Noble Memorial in Dahlonega will punctuate the season on October 13-14.
With such a heavy away schedule, Eagles golfers are familiar with adapting to new situations and different courses, but to have success, Montgomery says being as prepared as possible is key.
"I think the biggest thing is just kind of making sure that we kind of look at courses before. We have those books out there for them when we get there. I kind of help give them some different ideas on how to play holes, so if they maybe get in a situation they know how to recover…just trying to make it as simple for them as we can."
Aside from the schedule rapidly approaching, Montgomery says the first priority is making sure everyone settles in before play begins.
With a new team to blend together in such a short time, the players are already doing their due diligence at getting everyone up to speed before the approaching season hits.
"The first thing is kind of getting everyone together, hanging out, getting to know each other. That's super important, and they've been killing it. They've been all over the place already together, so that's great to see. They're all great friends," she said.
With the spring on the horizon, this Eagles golf team is ready to go for championship season.
"They really like our first one that we kick off the spring semester with down at Hilton Head. Every year kind of Carson Newman goes out there and kills it. So it'll be really great to kind of see that new group of girls go out there and hopefully have that same result," Montgomery said.
The women's golf team returns to action for the first time in the 2025-26 season in just a few weeks' time with the NCAA D2 South Regional Preview on September 13-14.
