Miller in second, C-N in a battle for first after day one at the Lady Cougar Classic

COLUMBUS, Ga. – #27 C-N Women's Golf played two solid rounds to put themselves in contention for a team title, but will have to duke it out with #25 West Florida tomorrow.
The Eagles were +13 as a team in round one at the Lady Cougar Classic, pacing the field by nine strokes before a slightly worse second round at +20. Despite the small drop off, the C-N will have the chance to play for a title tomorrow.
In round one, Emery Fisher led the way for C-N. The junior made three birdies on her first eight holes. She made back-to-back bogeys on the 10th and 11th but cancelled them out with an eagle on the par-five 14th. Her final birdie of the round was on the par-four 18th to count for a 73 (+1) in the first 18.
Madison Miller continued her strong play. After starting with two bogeys, the freshman birdied the par-five 9th. Following five straight pars, she wrote down a 2 on the par-three 16th. Two bogeys in her final five holes were good for a first-round 76 (+4).
Anaelle Picot had a challenging start with a bogey and a double. She rallied off that with a birdie at the par-four 3rd and 6th. She made 10 pars to round out the first 18 with a 76 (+4).
Rylee Tucker was the final score to count for C-N in round one. The freshman made a birdie on the par-four 7th and made 12 pars throughout the day for a 76 (+4).
Despite a triple on the first hole of the day, Grace Lambert made birdie on the following hole and another on the par-five 9th. With three doubles on the card, she made her final birdie of the round on the 13th. She recorded an eight-over 80 in round one.
Parker Miller played as an individual in the event and carded eight pars throughout the day to shoot 84 (+12) in round one.
As a team in round one, the Eagles made 12 birdies and one eagle. They outpaced the field by nine strokes after the first round. Birdies were harder to come by in the second round. The Eagles made just nine birdies in the second round.
Madison Miller was responsible for four of the nine helpers the Eagles got in the second round. She birdied the par-four 5th, and improved by two strokes on the par three eighth with a birdie in round two after a bogey in round one. Two bogeys on the back nine were helped by a birdie on the par-five 14th. She birdied her final hole of the day to shoot a collegiate low round of 72 (E). Miller is +4 over the event and tied for second place.
Anaelle Picot also made birdies on the par-five 3rd and par-four 5th, but made a double on the 12th. She paired that with nine pars in round two for a second-round 78 (+6). She is 10-over after 36 holes and 14th in the standings.
Emery Fisher started off round two with a bogey, making 13 pars, three bogeys, and two doubles in round two for a 79 (+7). Fisher is +8 after 36 holes and 8th place in the field of 69.
Rylee Tucker started round two with four straight pars, but made bogey on the ninth. She made two birdies on the 11th and 15th to help a double on the par-five 17th. The freshman shot 79 (+7) in round two and is 11-over after the first two rounds. She is in 17th.
Grace Lambert made nine pars in round two for a second round 85 (+13), while Parker Miller found a birdie at the par-four 7th coupled with eight pars for an 84 (+12). Lambert is +21 overall and 41st in the rankings while Miller is three back of her and 48th overall.
The Eagles are tied with West Florida at first place in the standings of the Lady Cougar Classic at +33 as a team. Both the Eagles and Argonauts have made 20 total birdies, but West Florida has made eight more pars than C-N. They will be paired up tomorrow for the final round which begins at 8:30 AM.
