Orange Takes Game 1 of Series

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Nick Sherrod (FR) hit a HR over the left field wall with 1 -out in the top of the 6th to give the Orange Dirt Bags a 2-1 lead that would stand to the end. Michael Elliott pitched the 5th and 6th innings with no hits and 2 strikeouts to get the win. Senior Corbin Ariail closed the game in the 7th inning for the save.
The Dirt Bags would strike first in the first inning on a 2-out RBI single by Tyler Wynn (SR) to score Mills Rogers (SR) who leadoff the inning with a walk. The Blue Sox would score their only run in the bottom of the first on a double by Antonio Nickel (FR) to score Zach Long (FR). Nickel and Zach Long each had 2 hits a piece on the day for the Blue Sox.
Robby Thigpen (FR) was effective as the starter for the Blue Sox going 5 Innings with 5 Strikeouts. He allowed only 1 run and 4 hits. Reed Williams (FR) started for the Dirt Bags and went 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and one earned run.

WINNING SKIPPER- LANGDON POTTS-"Pitching was big in this game. Defense was solid. Sherrod came up big, he is going to be a good hitter in this league. Goal was to keep their left handed hitters under wraps and we accomplished that. They were 0-9."
LOSING SKIPPER-GREG ROGERS-"We have our ace on the mound tomorrow. Today we didn't get any clutch hitting"
