The Eagles have played well in non-conference affairs this season. They are 11-3 in non-league games and are 6-3 in Tuesday midweek games. The three non-conference losses are the fewest since losing just three during the 2014-15 season. On average, the Eagles are scoring at least nine runs in non-conference games. Logan Floyd is hitting an impressive .511 in non-conference games this season.
Speaking of Floyd, he continues to etch himself as one of the best hitters in program history. He has 199 career hits, five away from becoming the first Eagle hitter with 200 hits since Tyler Thompson finished his career with 213 in 2021. Floyd has 147 career RBI and is a career .376 hitter. Floyd has also reached base safely in 27 straight games and his 18 doubles are the second most in the South Atlantic Conference this season. He leads the Eagles with a .414 batting average. Tyler Thompson's .438 batting average in 2019 is C-N's highest batting average in its DII history.
The Eagles have already secured another winning season and another winning season at home. C-N has won four straight home games entering its final home game of 2026.
Carson-Newman is a win away from matching its longest winning streak of the season. The Eagles have produced six-game winning streaks in both February and March and are trying to do it for a third straight month. C-N's current five-game streak is the longest active streak in the SAC and tied for the third-longest in the Southeast Region.
Impressively, Carson-Newman ranks in the top six of the South Atlantic Conference in every team statistical category except for hit batters. Besides that category, C-N is the only team in the league that ranks sixth or better in 30 team categories.
Carson-Newman won the first meeting of the season in Rome, Georgia on March 24th. C-N used a seven-run second inning and a three-run third to create early seperation to run away with a 12-1 win. The Hawks defense committed four errors in the loss, many of which came in that big C-N second inning.
The Eagles have won three straight in the series, which have come of the last two years. Two of those wins have been run-rule victories. The all-time series is level at nine wins a side.
Since losing to Carson-Newman on March 24th, Shorter has posted a 4-10 record. Overall, the Hawks are 15-26 with just a 6-24 mark in Conference Carolinas play this season. They were swept this past weekend by Mount Olive. Their current three-game skid is their sixth different three-game losing streak or longer this season. Over their last 10 games, the Hawks are 4-6.
Shorter has been a completely different team at home versus on the road this season. The Hawks are 12-11 at home, with C-N being one of those losses. But on the road, they are just 3-15. They have lost seven straight road games, the fourth-longest active road losing streak in DII. During the road losing streak, only two of the games have been decided by three runs or less.
The Hawks only rank seventh or better in three statistical categories among CC teams. They have two shutouts this season, tied for the second-most in their league. 54 home runs ranks fifth-best in CC this season. Lastly, their .470 slugging percentage is seventh.

Henriquez has a team-best 14 home runs and 42 RBI. Micah Shipman's 49 hits lead a Shorter offense that averages seven runs per game.
