Carson-Newman will be looking to continue its early season success in non-conference play. The Eagles have won each of their six non-conference to begin the season. In their last non-conference, game C-N run-ruled Tusculum 15-3 in seven innings.
In out of league games, C-N is producing more than 10 runs per game and has held its opponents to less than four runs per game. Four C-N starters are hitting above .400 led by Logan Floyd's nine hits in 15 at bats.
Speaking of Floyd, he entered the year with a 35-game on-base streak. The junior infielder has reached base in all eight games he has played in to extend his streak to 43 games. Floyd matches Evan Jurjevic who reached base in 43 straight games from early February to the end of April in 2015.
Early offense has been an early theme of 2026. The Eagles are outscoring their opponents 32-4 in the first two innings of games this season. C-N's 20 runs in first innings this season is eight more than its scored in any other inning to start the year. It has scored a first inning run in all but one of its non-conference games this season.

As a staff, the team earned run average sits at 3.42. They have only allowed more than three earned runs in two of the first nine games of the season.
Counting Tuesday's game, eight of the nine all-time meetings between the Chargers and Eagles have been played at Charger Park. Both clubs have won four games in a series that began in 2012. UAH snapped a four-game skid in the series with a 8-6 comeback win over the Eagles last April.
Alabama Huntsville was selected 10th in the Gulf South Conference's Preseason Coaches' poll. The Chargers received 32 points, just two behind ninth-place Auburn Montgomery.
The Chargers had the opportunity to open the season at the Houston Winter Invitational at Daikin Park, home of the Houston Astros. In Texas, UAH dropped its season opener 12-3 to #6 North Greenville. It bounced back by blowing out Ashland 18-6, before losing a tight 7-6 game to Arkansas Tech to close the weekend. In its lone non-conference series, Alabama Huntsville was swept by Drury at home. The first two games of the series were both three-run games, before Drury doubled up the Chargers in the series finale.
UAH had a bounce back effort this past weekend to start GSC play, sweeping a three-game series versus Christian Brothers and scoring double-digit runs in two of the three wins.
17th-year head coach Hunter Royer's team will be its seventh straight home on Tuesday, continuing a 10-game homestand in February. He has led the Chargers to three NCAA tournaments including a GSC Tournament championship in 2014.
Seth Staggs' .500 batting average leads things offensively for UAH. Senior infielder Caleb Mahan has been just as good at the plate with a team-leading 12 hits. Mahan went 5 for 5 in the series finale against Christian Brothers. The Chargers have scored 63 runs on just 19 extra-base hits, with no player having recorded more than three this season.
