JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (21-15) concludes its longest homestand of the 2026 season on Tuesday afternoon as it welcomes Trevecca Nazarene (26-12) to the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex for a non-conference contest.
Tuesday's game is the eighth and last game of this homestand. The Eagles are 4-3 through the first seven games of this stretch and are 10-9 at home this season.
The Eagles have produced fantastic results in non-conference affairs this season. They are 10-2 in non-league games and are 5-2 in Tuesday midweek games. C-N has won three straight midweek affairs, outscoring its opponents in those games 31-13. On average, the Eagles are scoring at least nine runs in non-conference games. Logan Floyd is hitting a team-best .488 in non-conference games this season.
Since the start of March, Carson-Newman has compiled a 13-7 record. All seven of those losses have come by three runs or less. Overall, 11 of the team's 15 losses this season have come by just three runs or less.
C-N's offense scored 31 runs on 32 hits in the three-game conference series versus #19 Wingate over the weekend. The team's eight home runs were the most in a three-game series since blasting 10 against McKendree in February of 2016. It's the most home runs in a weekend conference series since the program hit 10 in a weekend series with Lenoir-Rhyne in March of the 2010 season. In the last 24 seasons of Carson-Newman baseball, the eight home runs this weekend is tied for the third-most in a conference series in its DII era
Senior outfielder Bradley Soto Diaz (Davenport, Fla.) led the long ball attack, hitting a home run in each game of the weekend series with #19 Wingate. He is just the third Eagle hitter in the past eight seasons to hit a home run in three straight games, joining Tyler Thompson in 2018 and Harrison Travis in 2024.
Junior infielder Cole Nathan (Knoxville, Tenn.) has reached base safely in 24 straight games, the longest on-base streak by a player for C-N this season. It's a career-long on-base streak for Nathan as well. During his on-base streak he has 26 hits and 20 RBI.
For the first time in this 12-year series history, the Trojans have won back-to-back games against the Eagles. They won last year 7-3 and just over a month ago in Nashville 9-7. In the meeting back on March 3rd, TNU blasted a pair of two-run home runs to turn a two-run deficit into a two-run lead in the seventh inning to win the game. The all-time series is tied at five. C-N has won two of the last three games played in Mossy Creek.
Since defeating Carson-Newman in early March, Trevecca Nazarene has posted a 13-7 record. Overall, the Trojans are 26-12 and are second in the Gulf South Conference with a 17-7 league mark. Just like C-N, TNU has been really competitive as of late, and their last seven losses have also come by three runs or less. Eight of their 12 losses in 2026 are by three runs or less as well. Three of TNU's last five losses have come by exactly one run, including a pair of games against West Alabama this past weekend.
Surprisingly, the Trojans head to Jefferson City amid their worst stretch of baseball of the season. They have lost five of their last eight games, their most losses in any eight-game stretch this season. TNU is 11-5 in non-conference play this season and has a 12-7 on the road. They have lost four of their last six road games.
An offense that averages more than seven runs per game thrives on extra-base hits. Trevecca Nazarene leads the GSC in doubles with 74 and is second with 42 home runs. 34 percent of its hits this season go for extra-bases. Cade Martin has been the best hitter for the Trojans this year. He leads the team in batting average (.429), runs (36), home runs (11) and on-base percentage (.543). Five different Trojans have at least 20 RBI this season.
TNU's pitching staff has a 4.73 earned run average, the third-lowest mark in the GSC. Their 2.29 strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.29) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.1) are both top 30 marks nationally this season. Six different Trojans relievers with multiple appearances have an ERA under five.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm. A video stream of the weekend series is available with a subscription to FloSports at cneagles.com/flobase. The game can be heard on cneagles.com/live. Fans can also watch the radio crew at work with a feed of press row on YouTube.
