Men ranked No. 15 in the nation for NCAA DII track and field
NEW ORLEANS, La.- Carson-Newman men's track and field was ranked No. 15 in week two of the 2023 NCAA DII Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index yesterday afternoon, April 4.
NEW ORLEANS, La.- Carson-Newman men's track and field was ranked No. 15 in week two of the 2023 NCAA DII Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index yesterday afternoon, April 4.
Carson-Newman men's track and field was ranked 15th in the NCAA DII Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Teams are compared with only marks from the current season. The Eagles racked up 74.51 points in the rankings based on the first three weeks of the outdoor season.
Most recently, Devon Moore placed first in the first round of the invited section of the men's 100-meter dash in 9.99 seconds at the Texas Relays. Moore currently holds the 4th fastest time in the event in the world under all wind conditions. Moore secured a national qualifying mark in the event and was honored as the SAC Varsity Gems Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for his performance. Makanakaishe Charamba competed in the men's timed section of the 100-meter dash. Charamba placed first in 10.15 seconds. He has the 19th fastest time in the world under world legal wind conditions. In order to qualify for world events, the wind has to read under 2.0 meters per second, but to qualify for NCAA championships, the wind has to read under 4.0 meters per second.
