Athletic Communications office brings in fifth-most awards in CSC College Division Digital Design Competition

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Carson-Newman’s athletic communications team tallied six national awards at the College Sports Communicators Publications and Digital Design Competition, the organization announced Tuesday evening.

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Carson-Newman's athletic communications team tallied seven national awards at the College Sports Communicators Publications and Digital Design Competition, the organization announced Tuesday evening.  

The haul puts Carson-Newman Athletic Communications inside the top five of the College Division for a third straight year. 

Oklahoma University led all schools with 13 awards.  Washburn led the College Division with nine awards. 

Included in the haul are two best-in-the-nation trophies.  These accolades bring the department's overall national awards total to 54 from CSC (formerly CoSIDA) in the last seven years.

The gold medal-winning entries were Adam Cavalier's men's basketball game notes package, as well as Ian Johnson and Cavalier's hype video for the Carson-Newman football program's black jersey reveal. 

Bronze medals came in for Cavalier's softball game notes package in spring sports game notes, and Johnson and Cavalier's football entrance video for the pregame/hype video category. Cavalier's football media guide finished second in that category. 

The football pregame motion graphic for the Catawba game finished in eighth place in the motion graphic/GIFs category. While the football schedule poster came in 10th in that category. 

While no longer with the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications office, alumna Danielle Whaley was named the University Division Graphic Designer of the Year for her efforts with Villanova's athletic communications office. 

Cavalier's six-award haul brings his career total to 22.  Johnson garners the first two awards of his career.
