ROCK HILL, S.C. – Following a successful spring season, Elliot MacGregor has been named to the All-SAC Second-Team, the league office announced on Friday.
"It means a lot," MacGregor said. "I wasn't playing too well in the fall… I struggled, and coach [Randy] Wylie helped me a lot… We got some equipment that helped me last semester and helped me with my game this semester. I started strong and had a couple of bad rounds, but coach Wylie helped me a lot again, and it is good to get this achievement."
MacGregor is named to the second team following a regular season that featured 12 of his 24 rounds at or under par, including a season-best 8-under 2nd place finish at the Saint Leo Invitational in February. The senior stroked a season-best 66 in the third round of the Trevecca Music City Invitational at the end of March, finishing the event in 6th at 3-under.
"I worked on improving my consistency," MacGregor said. "I've been trying to get my numbers better… We can see the numbers more in-depth with our new equipment and get them more consistent, which means when I'm on the course, I'm hitting it straight more often, and I know how far everything will go and what my misses are."
MacGregor and the Eagles prepare to head to Greenville, South Carolina, where C-N will compete against the South Atlantic Conference's best. Seeing the course previously, the senior is excited to compete at a high level in the conference championships.
"We went out on Sunday to watch the girls play," MacGregor said. "The course looks like it is in good condition… It had a little bit of rain, but hopefully, it should be clear by now… It should be fun. I don't think the scoring will be ridiculously low, but if I go out there and play solid and the guys play solid, we should have a good chance at posting some good scores."
The Eagles will look to compete at a high level against the South Atlantic Conference's best in the three-day SAC Championships, starting on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
