Eagles Bolster Squad with 20 New Track Athletes
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – One day after announcing the addition of seven field athletes, Carson-Newman Director of Track and Field and Cross Country David Needs announced 20 new track athletes to the eagles track and field and cross country squads on Wednesday.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – One day after announcing the addition of seven field athletes, Carson-Newman Director of Track and Field and Cross Country David Needs announced 20 new track athletes to the eagles track and field and cross country squads on Wednesday.
"We brought in some extremely talented athletes in not only our sprinting program but in our distance program as well" says Needs. "We've got some kids who will not only provide depth but are also talented enough to make the podium in at conference in cross country and track and field."
Desmond Bernard – Lexington, Ky. – Bryan Station – University of Toledo – Hurdles – 5-9 - @des_b11
PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN: Was a member of the track and field team at the University of Toledo.
HIGH SCHOOL: Bernard placed fourth in the 110 meter hurdles at the 2017 KHSAA State Track Championships as a member of the Bryan Station High School Track and Field team. Was named to the All-State team in 2017. Was a national qualifier in the relay in 2017. Also played football for the Defenders.
PERSONAL: Son of Thomas and Alethea Bernard. Was named to the All-Kentucky academic team in 2017. Intends to major in Human Services.
Jackson Bostick – Lenoir City, Tenn. – Grace Christian Academy – Hurdles & Sprints – 6-0 - @bostickjackson
HIGH SCHOOL: Bostick was a two-time TSSAA State Champion in the 300 meter hurdles and was All-State in 2018 and 2019 in the 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay. Bostick also holds school records in nine events, including the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles. Bostick was also a member of the Rams football and basketball teams, reaching the 2017 Boys Basketball Final Four.
PERSONAL: Son of Gregg & Missy Bostick. Graduated in the top ten percent of his graduating class. Intends to be a business major while at Carson-Newman.
Raymond Brugmans – Zwijndrecht, Netherlands – DevelsteinCollege - Fontys Hogescholen Mens en Gezondheid – Distance – 6-0
PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN: Attended Fontys Hogescholen Mens en Gezondheid. Ran the 400 meter, 800 meter, 1500 meter and cross country in the Netherlands. Place seventh in the Dutch National Championship in the 800 meter. Trained by Rikkert Van Rhee, former Dutch national champion.
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended DevelsteinCollege in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands.
PERSONAL: Son of Hans Brugmans. Intends to major in Nursing.
Madison Dockery – Newport, Tenn. – Distance - Cocke County – 5-1
HIGH SCHOOL: Dockery was a two-time first team All-Meet winner and was named All-Conference in 2019.
PERSONAL: The daughter of Ricky Dockery. Intends to major in Nursing and will compete with the cross country team as well.
DeQuan Dudley – Chicago, Ill. – Rich Central – Texas A&M-Commerce – Sprints – 5-9
PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN: Was named All-Conference in the 4x100 meter relay, 4x200 meter relay, 100 meter and 200 meter while at Texas-A&M Commerce. Holds record for fastest 4x100 meter relay time in school history. Won 2019 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championship with the Lions. Also won conference championship in 100 meter dash. Was named USTFCCCA All-South Central Region in the 4x100 meter relay. Was also member of Lions Football team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Dudley was All-State in the 100 meter, 200 meter and 4x200 meter relay at Rich Central High School in Chicago, Illinois. He also holds a top five all-time best time in the 200 meter in the state of Illinois.
PERSONAL: Son of Starles Dudley. Made the Dean's List at Texas A&M-Commerce. Pursuing an MBA with a focus in Sports Management.
Lainee Griffin – Knoxville, Tenn. – Hardin Valley Academy – Sprints – 5-5
HIGH SCHOOL: Griffin was a two-time region champion as a member of the Hardin Valley track and field team. She had five top 10 finishes with the relay team at state and competed in Outdoor Nationals twice. Griffin was also a member of the Hawks soccer team, winning three district championships and being named defender of the year.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Robin Griffin. Intends to major in Exercise Science. She is a member of the National Honors Society. Was also a member of the Carson-Newman women's soccer team, recording an assist in the Eagles win over Queens in 2019.
Christian Henry – Talbott, Tenn. – Morristown West – Distance & Relay – 5-11
HIGH SCHOOL: Henry was All-Conference in 2018 and 2019. Was named All-Region and All-State in 2019. Was also a member of the cross country, basketball, baseball and track and field teams.
PERSONAL: Son of Amanda Henry. Intends to major in Exercise Science and Sports Management. Will also compete on the Eagles cross country team.
Karolina Herastovska – Seymour, Tenn. – Northview Academy – Sprints – 5-8
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Northview Academy in Seymour, Tenn.
PERSONAL: Originally from Odessa, Ukraine, Herastovska is the daughter of Rick Houser and Tatiana Herastovska. Has been active in dance her entire life. Intends to major in Communications.
Jordan Hibbert – Knoxville, Tenn. – Hardin Valley Academy – Sprints – 5-10 - @jordanheathhibb
HIGH SCHOOL: Hibbert was the team captain at Hardin Valley. He was a New Balance Nationals qualifier. Was also a member of the baseball and football teams.
PERSONAL: Son of Melissa Hibbert. Is undecided on his major.
Zuriel Jimpson – Atlanta, Ga. – Westlake High School – Sprints – 6-0 - @ZurielJ_2020
HIGH SCHOOL: Jimpson was named All-Region in the 100 meter, the 4x400 meter relay and 4x100 meter relay while at Westlake High School in Atlanta. Also played football for the Lions.
PERSONAL: Son of Lashaunda Bullar-Jimpson. Made honor roll at Westlake. Member of the National Honors Society. Intends to major in Graphic Design.
Will Kolb – Louisville, Ky. – Louisville Male High School – Distance – 5-10
HIGH SCHOOL: Competed in track and cross country at Louisville Male High School
PERSONAL: Son of Will Kolb Sr. Intends to major in Film. Will also compete on the Eagles cross country team.
Kenard Laribo – Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Wilson Central – Kentucky Wesleyan University - Sprints – 6-4
PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN: Member of the Kentucky Wesleyan track and field team. Was named GMAC Sprinter of the Year. Named team freshman sprinter of the year.
HIGH SCHOOL: Competed in in basketball, football, and track and field at Wilson Central High School.
PERSONAL: Son of Kenard Laribo Sr. Majoring in Mass Communications.
Anslee McGlocklin – Chattanooga, Tenn. – Chattanooga Christian – Sprints/Relay/Long Jump – 5-4
HIGH SCHOOL: McGlocklin competed in the 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter and long jump. Won back-to-back state titles in the 4x200 meter relay in 2017 and 2018. Finished third in 4x400 meter relay in 2018. Also played soccer for the Chargers.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Deana Burelle. Intends on majoring in nursing.
Sterling Melancon – Mt. Juliet, Tenn. – Wilson Central – Sprints – 6-0 - @sterling949
HIGH SCHOOL: Melancon won the 2020 60 meter dash State Championship and was a four-time All-American. He ran a 6.88 in the 60m at the Nashville Music City Invitational, good for fifth in the nation. He was also a member of the 2020 Indoor Track and Field State Runner-Up Wilson Central Wildcats.
PERSONAL: Son of Trichlyn Wise. Intends to major in Biochemistry.
Austin Ramsey – Knoxville, Tenn. – Carter High School – Hurdles & Long Jump – 6-2 - @austinr8484
HIGH SCHOOL: Ramsey was a member of the Carter football, basketball and track and field teams.
PERSONAL: Son of Mark Ramsey. Intends to major in Computer Science.
Timaya Ray – Knoxville, Tenn. – Hardin Valley Academy – Sprints – 5-9
HIGH SCHOOL: Ray was two-time All-State in the 200 meter dash in both outdoor and indoor track and won the Girls 2018 Indoor State Championship. She was also named team MVP in girls sprints twice.
PERSONAL: The daughter of Lillie Ray. Intends to major in psychology while at Carson-Newman.
Kayla Rainboth – Morristown, Tenn. – Morristown West - Tennessee – Sprints – 5-1
PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN: Attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Was a member of Alpha Sigma Pi.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Morristown West High School in 2017
PERSONAL: Daughter of Jennifer Rainboth. Intends to major in Political Science
Lauren Tabor – Crossville, Tenn. – Cumberland County – Distance & Relay – 5-5
HIGH SCHOOL: Tabor finished ninth in the state in the 1600 meter and 12th in the 800 meter in 2017. Also qualified for the state cross country championships twice while at Cumberland County High School. Also played soccer and basketball for the Jets. Was named basketball defensive player of the year in 2018 and won three district championships. Was named first team All-District and second team All-Region for soccer in 2018. Won two region championships in soccer.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Eric and Jennifer Tabor. Graduated Summa Cum Laude. Intends to major in Family Consumer Sciences. Will also compete for the Eagles cross country team.
Isaiah Weasby – Arlington, Tenn. – Bartlett High School – Sprints – 5-8
HIGH SCHOOL: Weasby was a three time state champion while on the track and field team at Bartlett High School, competing in the 200 meter, 400 meter and 800 meter run and the 4x400 meter relay. Weasby was also named an All-American.
PERSONAL: Son of Lekenya Williams. Related to former Memphis Tigers and current Brooklyn Nets basketball player Jeremiah Martin. Intends to major in political science.
Abbigale Zander – Baneberry, Tenn. – Sprints - Jefferson County – 5-9
HIGH SCHOOL: Zander was a three-time All-Conference selection in track and field at Jefferson County High School. She finished third place in the 400 meter dash in 2018 and was a member of back-to-back third place sectional track and field teams for the Patriots. Zander also played soccer at Jefferson County, where she led the Patriots with 13 goals and was conference player of the year and first team all-conference in 2019.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Nancy and Gary Zander. Sister of Kate Zander of the Eagles Women's Soccer team. Niece of former Cincinnati Bengals player Carl Zander. Will also play soccer at Carson-Newman. Member of National Honor Society. Intends to major in nursing.
