JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman Sprints Coach Kieran Showler-Davis has been promoted to Recruiting Coordinator for the Eagles track & field team, Director of Track & Field and Cross Country David Needs announced Wednesday.
He spent the past season as a graduate assistant with the Eagles.
"Kieran was an All-American here and is an outstanding coach," Needs said. "Kieran has a very developed process he does to teach our runners to run correctly and has been a great influence on developing Devon Moore, one of the fastest runners in the country. He's helped our other sprinters develop and produce as well.
"He's a great recruiter and has a great mind for who will help Carson-Newman become a better team by bringing the right kind of people here.
In a shortened indoor season, Showler-Davis was an integral part of coaching junior sprinter Devon Moore to two gold medals in the 60 Meter and 200 Meter dash at the 2020 SAC Indoor Championships. Moore was also named 2020 SAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and was named a USTFCCCA All-American.
"I'm extremely excited to be named recruiting coordinator along with being the sprints coach this coming season," Showler-Davis said. "The past few seasons we've brought a lot of talent onto the team and this has been reflected in our conference finishes and national rankings."
As a student, Showler-Davis made his way to Mossy Creek from Florida State in 2015. The Winchester, England native blew everyone away his senior season, earning All-American honors in the 60 Meter and in 110M. Showler-Davis was also an All-Conference selection in 2017 and was the SAC Champion in the 100 meter dash.
Showler-Davis also competed for his home country in 2018, competing in the Manchester Invitational as well as participating in the British and European National Trials.
"I feel like we've done a great job of not only recruiting great athletes but also have done a great job of developing these athletes too," Showler-Davis said. "This is something we'll strive to build on and improve on year after year. I believe this deepest we've been as a team, so I'm excited to jump back into coaching and see what we can accomplish this year."
