JEFFERSON CITY, TN-- The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles outshot and outlasted the USC-Upstate Spartans, winning 2-0 to win their fifth consecutive game.
The Lady Eagles (5-0) outshot the Spartans 30-6 and maintained possession with 18 corner kicks while holding the Spartans to no corner kicks.
C-N broke a scoreless tie in the 18th minute when Erica Stegner put a Rebecca Angus assist in the right side of the net for a 1-0 Lady Eagle lead at halftime.
The Lady Eagles looked to put the game away in the second half, but USC-Upstate keeper Diana Wabnitz kept the Spartans within striking distance by garnering 14 saves. Brittany Moore broke through the Spartan defense, sending a cross which Lindsay Farris placed in the left side of the net for a 2-0 Lady Eagle win.
