JEFFERSON CITY, TN - The4th-ranked Carson-Newman Lady Eagles used a pair of first half goals to take their home opener over Belmont-Abbey 2-0 on Friday afternoon at McCown Field.

"When you win 2-0 over a good team, you have to be pleased. We worked hard, but can still get better," said Lady Eagle Head Coach Phil McNamara. "We also got to play every field player. That will be important, because we play two games in three days. "
With the win, the Lady Eagles move to 2-0 in 2006. Carson-Newman has yet to surrender a goal. The Lady Eagles have outscored their first two opponents 9-0.
Carson-Newman will host Clayton State at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at McCown Field. Admission is free.
The Lady Eagles split two games with the Lakers in 2005, losing the regular season battle, but winning the NCAA tournament rematch.
